The Glastonbury Art Guild will present the 46th Annual On the Green Fine Art & Craft Show on the Hubbard Green in Glastonbury on September 6 & 7, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The show features over 200 artisans and has grown into one of the region’s top juried outdoor art and craft shows. Admission and parking to the event are free. The Preview Party is being held at the Riverfront Community Center, 300 Welles St., Glastonbury, on September 5 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Meet the artists, view their artwork and make a purchase, if desired. The event features live music, wine sampling, light hors d’ oeuvres and a drawing to win original works by Connecticut artists. Andrew Chasse, owner of Hansoo Taekwondo Academy located on Commerce Street, Glastonbury, will ride in the Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) on August 2 and 3. The bike race is a 192 mile race from Sturbridge, MA to Provincetown, Cape Cod, MA. 100% of the funds that the riders collect is donated to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Steve and Deb Dauphinais, owners of Bicycles East, have each received recognitions recently. Steve has received two certifications from the Serotta International Cycling Institute, as a Bike Fit Professional and Advanced Triathlon Fit Professional. Steve has provided professional fitting services for hundreds of clients over the past several years to optimize their comfort and performance. Bicycles East was nationally-recognized as Dealer of the Month by Trek Bicycle Corporation, in recognition of Deb’s efforts related to the recent passage of Connecticut bicycle safety legislation. Stephen Pedneault, founder of Forensic Accounting Services LLC of Glastonbury presented Kristen Edwards of Manchester, a junior at the University of Connecticut, with a scholarship at the UConn School of Business annual awards banquet. Stephen teaches an online course in forensic accounting through UConn and provides the scholarship to accounting majors who show promise and passion for the forensic accounting field. Forensic Accounting Services specializes in financial investigations to uncover fraud and embezzlement, provides litigation support, and assists with matrimonial and probate financial disclosures. The firm also provides a host of prevention programs and services for companies throughout Connecticut.

On Friday, June 20, William McGurk, President and CEO of Rockville Bank and Rockville Financial (RCKB), presided over the NASDAQ closing bell to celebrate the bank’s 150th anniversary. The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk (South Windsor) in partnership with Rockville Bank officially open its new park, Rockville Bank Park with a brick walkway. This kicked off Rockville Bank’s 150th anniversary celebration.
Rockville Bank is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of Connecticut’s “Nutmeg State Games” with a donation of $10,000 to this nonprofit organization. In 2008, 7,000 young athletes from Connecticut will compete in the Olympics-style festival.
More than two dozen promising Connecticut high school graduating seniors were awarded financial recognition awards from the Rockville Bank Foundation. Academic Scholarships and Vocational and Agricultural Awards were presented to recipients for their superior academic accomplishments.
