Riverfront Music Festival

The Glastonbury Chamber of Commerce and Glastonbury Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the musical line-up for the 2012 Glastonbury Riverfront Music Fest. The bands selected to play this year are Shaded Soul, Eight to the Bar, Rob Zappulla and His Big Band and Changes in Latitude. These free concerts are scheduled for the four Wednesday nights in July, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The concerts will be held at the Welles Street Riverfront Park on the lawn behind the Riverfront Community Center. Free parking and shuttle service will be available at 180 & 200 Glastonbury Boulevard, which is adjacent to Somerset Square.

July 11 – The Mystery Tour
The fab five members of The Mystery Tour faithfully reproduce the look and sounds of Beatlemania with authentic sounds and costumes. The Mystery Tour show unfolds with favorite hits like “I Saw Her Standing There”, “A Hard Day’s Night” and “Here Comes The Sun.” The entire spectrum of the Beatles’ fabulous musical achievements are covered including The Ed Sullivan Show, Rubber Soul, Revolver, Magical Mystery Tour, Abbey Road and Sergeant Pepper, complete with psychedelic costumes. Accompanying the fab four are the keyboard sounds of Greg Harris who recreates the orchestrations of the Beatles later period.

July 18 – Jeff Pitchell and the Texas Flood
Jeff Pitchell is an internationally acclaimed, award winning singer, songwriter, guitarist, and an actor who reminds fans of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, BB King etc. but most of all, is a top drawing, best selling artist whose explosive guitar playing and impassioned vocals have drawn rave reviews from fans and critics alike for simply playing music that Jeff himself has written! Jeff and Texas Flood are top-notch musicians and singers who unite to bring a high energy mix of Rhythm and Blues, Rock, Soul and funky Texas Blues.

July 25 – 45rpm
Huge 70's radio hits that are instantly recognizable, but not "cool" enough for ordinary bands to play is just what 45rpm is all about. Infectious hooks, great melodies, and incredible production have woven these tunes into the fabric of our lives. Yet nobody plays them live ... until now! 45rpm is comprised of six highly skilled, dedicated, and fairly deranged singers and musicians from the New York scene who bring these songs back to life with the veracity they deserve, recreating some very special music and having a total blast doing so! Consider them cheese connoisseurs.

August 1 – Changes In Latitudes
Changes In Latitudes is the country's premier tribute show to singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett, the master of the tropical life style. With beach balls flying, dancing conga lines, and leis for all, they will take you to the ultimate beach party that’s good clean fun for the entire family. Comprised of nine world-class musicians, and travelling with a full tropical stage set-up, Changes In Latitudes recreates the Buffett concert experience with amazing authenticity. You can expect to hear such classics as “Margaritaville”, “Come Monday”, and, of course, “Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes”, as well as other crowd-pleasing favorites, like “Brown Eyed Girl”, “Southern Cross”, “Another Saturday Night”, and the Alan Jackson/ Jimmy Buffett smash hit "It's Five O'clock Somewhere".

The July 25th concert will also feature a classic car show. All car enthusiasts are invited to bring their classic car (1987 or older) to display or simply to attend as a spectator. No prior reservation is required. There is a raindate for the car show of August 1.

Food vendors and local farms will be offering a variety of festival treats from hot dogs and hamburgers to fruit smoothies and ice cream. Or if you prefer, bring your own picnic to enjoy with your family and friends. Concerts will only be cancelled in the event of a thunder and lightning rainstorm.

Check the Chamber calendar for the latest information on the concert and it's sponsors.
